Become a Tutor

Your Role as a Tutor

Tutors are the heart and backbone of this program.

Prerequisites
  • Must be fluent in Tamil.
  • Passionate about helping kids learn and grow.
  • Ready to commit time and energy to making a difference.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct engaging English lessons based on our standardized curriculum for your student.
  • Use Tamil strategically to explain concepts and build rapport.
  • Encourage student participation and curiosity.
  • Ask for help when needed from the adult coordinator, especially for student tutors.
  • Adapt and refine teaching methodology to benefit students.
  • Go prepared. Before class, review the lesson content.
  • Keep track of time, flow, and lessons taught.
  • If this role interests you, there will be a follow-up orientation session to attend.

Time Commitment: Minimum of 1 to 1.5 hours per week, including tutoring, preparation for class, and any homework help offered.

Mentor / Coordinator

Guide tutors and students. Bridge communication. Enable success.

Your Role as a Coordinator

Adult coordinators help student tutors run their sessions smoothly.

Prerequisites
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking Tamil.
  • Familiar with Tamil culture and local customs.
Responsibilities
  • Be present in all tutoring sessions with student tutors.
  • Troubleshoot technology and curriculum challenges during sessions.
  • Help smooth communication with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Help tutors adapt when challenges arise.
  • Encourage and reassure students.
  • Provide emotional and logistical support to both tutor and student.

Time Commitment: Minimum of 1 hour per week per student.

Curriculum Developer

Design learning that makes English engaging, practical and culturally relevant.

Your Role as a Curriculum Developer

Our curriculum has Basic Grammar, Cultural Exchange, and Practical Skill Building.

Responsibilities
  • Design training materials and lesson plans.
  • Incorporate cultural exchange moments.
  • Share real-life examples and role-play situations.
  • Create bilingual English-Tamil teaching aids when needed.
  • Update materials based on feedback.

Time Commitment: Variable and flexible based on what you can offer.

Technology Implementor

Build and support the tools that power learning and connection.

Your Role as a Technology Implementor

Responsibilities
  • Assist in building and improving the website.
  • Create and maintain the YouTube channel and reels.
  • Support homework innovation with mobile-friendly assignments.
  • Help use AI and emerging technologies for lesson delivery.
